Easter Treats!

Easter isn’t one of the most celebrated holiday of the year. Most people settle for chocolate eggs, but if you’re up for something more fun and friendly for all the family, then these treats are perfect for your holiday! You can make these treats alone, with friends or with family and these are appropriate for all ages!

Easter Chick Nests.

There are many different variations of this recipe but mine has loads of room for improvisation! You will need:

  • 200g of Shredded Wheat
  • 400g of milk chocolate
  • Little chicks, mini eggs and any other decorations you want to add!

Firstly, you need to set the oven to gas mark 4, and pour hot water into a sauce pan. On top of this saucepan you need to place a glass bowl to put the broken up chocolate in.

Keep stirring until there are no lumps of chocolate left and turn off the hob. Take the bowl off of the saucepan and set it on a cooling rack so it doesn’t burn the work surface. Now take another bowl and break down your shredded wheat. You can do this in several different ways, either by using your hands or using the end of a rolling pin like I do.

Now pour the shredded wheat into the now melted chocolate and mix until all of the shredded wheat is covered.  Take a tablespoon full of mixture and put into a cupcake case. Then place these into the fridge for about half an hour to harden. Now you can decorate!

You can decorate your cakes and treats however you want to; I chose to use little chicks, mini eggs, lindt eggs and chocolate coins. They go great with hot cross buns and are great fun to make! How will you decorate yours?
